Instructions for use:

To avoid stains on your hands you can wear a pair of disposable gloves while working with the dye.

Add the content of the sachet Fabric Dye into 20 cl hot water. Add a tablespoon salt (20 gram) and stir until all powder is dissolved. For wool and polyamide (nylon) add a tablespoon full of vinegar to the solution.

Test whether the color is right by dipping a small piece of fabric or some white paper in the solution.

Washing machine:
Pour the solution into the drum of the washing machine. Wet your fabric and place it in the drum of your washing machine. Select a main wash program (at least 30-40 minutes) and the highest permitted temperature according to the label of your fabric.

If you use Aybel Fiske , add the content of the sachet Aybel Fiske into the bin for softener of your washing machine.

Hand dye
Fill a bucket with water (3-5 litre) at the highest permitted temperature according to the label of your fabric. Add the dissolved fabric dye and stir well. Wet the fabric and place it in the bucket.

Stir firm and regularly for 30-40 minutes so that the dye and fabric is mixed well.

Rinse the fabric until no more dye is in the rinsing water. If you use Aybel Fiske , you can add the fixation liquid to the last rinsing water.

I used this color twice in the washing machine. 1 x for a wool sweater and 1 x for a viscose sweater. Both sweaters have become purple instead of the dark blue I had hoped for.

    • Aylan

      Good morning Sandra,

Annoying that the color has turned too purple.

Textile dye has several color components. With synthetic materials, this can sometimes lead to color differences, as one component (red) is more intense than the other (blue in your case).

For nylon, wool, and probably also viscose, you can significantly improve the result by dyeing again, but then add a dash of vinegar (half a cup) while dyeing. However, you should not use vinegar for yellow or red color.

If you want I can send you a sachet of Dark Denim Blue again. Of course I can also refund the purchase amount.

      With colourful greetings,

Blue colors can indeed cause a purple veil after dyeing. Colors always consist of a large number of components with different chemical compositions. Some colors, in combination with different materials, may turn out to be slightly different. A lower washing temperature also has an effect. For example, the purple component in blue may sometimes be too strong compared to blue. In consultation with the manufacturer, we are working on a solution to this problem. At the moment, the best solution is to extend the time the color is processed. The blue component then gets more time and is more effective. For hand dyeing, you can simply soak the fabric overnight. In the washing machine you can turn off the washing machine during the dyeing process for several hours up to one night and then let it run again. As a service, we will send you new textile colors when it comes to a purple veil.

I have ordered this colour for my horse riding book and weighed the trousers first. Then I ordered 2 sachets, added salt and soaked it for one night in a bucket. The color came out good.

    Good cover!

I put 2 pants in a bucket and closed the lid for 3 days. Excellent result!
You better wet the pants first, or you'll get stains.

  6. Sanne

I have a white dress that I would like to dye blue, these are the fabrics: Paper Dolls Petite Midi dress with lace overlay and top
    Can I dye this dress?

    • Aylan

      Hello Sanne,

As far as I know, the clothes of Paper Dolls are mainly made of natural materials. Except for satin as this can possibly contain polyester. For polyester to take on colour the temperature needs to be too high. Therefore it can not be dyed.

Furthermore, the dresses of Paper Dolls often have prints of flowers etc. Prints always remain visible after dyeing. If your dress is plain white, then of course you have nothing to do with this.

I hope I could help you with this? Good luck!

      With colourful greetings,

      Aylan of Aybel
